Pfizer closes its Jette-based unit

Pfizer, the US pharma giant, announced it would close its Jette (Brussels) based unit, causing the loss of 200 out of 600 jobs within the next 18 to 24 months. 400 Commercial functions, which will transfer to a new unit in Brussels' Etterebeek, remain unaffected by the closure, as well as Pfizer's other Belgian activities in Louvain-la-Neuve and Nossegem. The 200 redundancies are production functions. Pfizer Jette has a production unit, which is specialized in anti-biotics and anti-depressives and will now be transferred to foreign Pfizer units. Pfizer Belgium employs approx. 1200 staff.
