Roche’s Citrique Belge prepares restructuring, 60 may lose jobs.

Citrique Belge, the Tienen based unit that is part of Swiss Roche’s Vitamins and Fine Chemicals Division, is planning a competition-driven restructuring that might lead to the loss of 60 out of 400 jobs. The company specializes in the production and processing of citric acid and citrates. Originally founded in 1919, the family owned company was acquired by Swiss Roche in 1977. The company said the restructuring is necessary to fight the combination of decreasing turnover and increased raw materials costs. It said that China lately has been offering citric acid on the world markets at dumping prices.
