Essent to quadruple German power sales in 2003

Essent, the leading Dutch utility, expects its German electricity sales to industrial clients to quadruple this year and to double again in 2004, the firm's German unit Deutsche Essent said. In the household sector, Essent currently supplies around 400,000 German end customers through its majority stake in the Bremen local utility SWB AG, which in turn holds minority stakes in the Bielefeld and Guetersloh local utilities. Deutsche Essent reiterated that the company aims to supply two million German household customers within the next five years and that it has annual funds of around € 500 million euros for investments in the country.
