E.ON and Electrabel to bid together for Polish utility.

Electrabel, the Belgian energy business, and E.ON Energie, a unit of Europe's No. 2 utility, have set up a venture to bid for a Polish group of eight power distributors, according to the Polish daily Puls Biznesu.The two utilities plan to separate the group, known as G-8, after the purchase with E.ON taking over five distributors and Electrabel controlling the remaining three plants, the paper said. The companies grouped in G-8 are located in northern Poland and serve 2.5 million customers, with annual sales of € 1.000 million. Together the distributors control 17 % of the Polish energy market and employ as many as 8,000 workers.
