KPN Orange

KPN Orange, the Belgian mobile operator, has to stop its mobile phones swap action after a commercial court ruled that the company’s action to give a new mobile phone to customers that hand in an old one in combination with a year-subscription can be considered as a linked transaction, a practice forbidden in Belgium. The complaint was jointly filed by KPN Orange’s competitors Mobistar and Proximus. The court ruled that KPN Orange has to stop immediately with the swapping of the phones or has to pay a fine of € 10,000 a day.
