KPN Orange

KPN Orange, Belgium’s third mobile operator, said it will delay the launch of UMTS in Belgium as it is having problems with the development of its network, according to a report in Dutch daily De Telegraaf. KPN is not receiving enough permits for the construction and placing of UMTS antennas and added that new handsets capable of sending and receiving third- generation services, or 3G - including high-speed Internet connections and video downloads - won't be available until later this year. KPN Orange was due to launch its UMTS services in September, but now said a mass rollout probably wouldn't begin until at least a year later. Proximus has already announced a delay for the launch of its UMTS services.
