Philips

plans to build a microchip factory in the East German town of Erfurt. The project involves an investment of several hundred million euros. This would be the first time that Philips has invested such a large sum in East Germany. The new factory will create jobs for 300 people. Philips said that it is still in intensive negotiations with the state of Thuringen, where Erfurt is located. In West Germany, Philips has two microchip factories, in Hamburg and Boblingen.
