Val Saint-Lambert acquired by Portuguese -Italian-American venture.

Val Saint-Lambert, the Belgian cristalmaker, has been acquired by a joint venture between Portuguese entrepreneur Duarte Raposo de Moghlahes and Italian-American luxury goods concern Martini-Rossi. In a first phase the Walloon Region preserves 40 % of shares. The Portuguese -Italian-American venture pays one symbolic euro for the 60% stake and has agreed to invest a further € 2 million in the commercial network and the production unit of the loss-making company. The Walloon Region invests another € 1,4 million. Val Saint-Lambert employs 61 staff, compared with 650 in the early seventies.
