Interbrew to acquire 25% stake in China's Zhu Jiang.(press)

Interbrew, the Leuven based brewery, is taking a 25% stake in Chinese brewery Zhu Jiang, the country’s fourth ranked brewery and based in Kanton. The news is reported by Flemish daily De Standaard, citing sources close to the company. According to the report, Zhu Jiang is preparing a flotation by 2003 and would in anticipation sell a 25% stake to the Belgian brewer. Interbrew has been present in China since 1997, when it started a joint venture with a local partner in Nanking.
